Lemosho Route is one most preferred route to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro due to its panoramic views of the mountain from various side and high summit success rate. Trails on the route are filled with the varied scenic backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The route is less crowded as compared to other routes making it ideal from first-time trekkers. The route due to its longer schedule provides better acclimatisation for the climbers, which widens the chance of a successful summit.
Lemosho Route begins on the west side of Kilimanjaro from Londorossi Gate. After which the trek proceeds through the deep rainforest to Shira plateau over the next two days. The trail then, moves eastward of the Shira Plateau to the Lava Tower in a flat hike. The route then heads down towards Barranco Valley via the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu. Following which the descent is made through the Mweka route.
It is recommended to take the Lemosho Route with a crater night, to experience the amazing experience of Carter camp. The expedition to carter camp is one of the most adventurous part of Mt. Kilimanjaro trekking. It gives you and chance of sleeping overnight in the bowl of the crater.
